Attractions & Shopping

There are many interesting things to discover in the local area – eg. the many buildings and other landmarks of world-renowned architect Arne Jacobsen. During summer you can also visit the world’s oldest amusement park, Bakken, which can be found at Jægersborg Dyrehave just a few kilometres from the Hotel.

North of Skovshoved you can find several interesting museums, like Karen Blixen’s Rungstedlund (see futher information below), Nivågaard Collection or Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. And just around the corner you can find Ordrupgaard Museum with the adjacent Finn Juhl’s house.

Also in the local area there are many great shopping opportunities, such as Jægersborg Allé, Ordrupvej or Hellerup Strandvej. Here you can find boutiques with both apparel, sport, interior and cozy cafés.

You can also find many local artists in the area – just ask at the reception for addresses and opening hours.

Karen Blixen’s Rungstedlund

Rungstedlund is situated north of Skovshoved along the beautiful coastal road “Strandvejen” with lovely views to both woodland and across the Sound to Sweden. Returning home after seventeen years in Kenya, Karen Blixen sat down here at her desk and wrote herself into world literary greatness.

The rooms of Karen Blixen remain just as she left them, providing the museum’s visitors with a vivid and authentic impression of the writer’s very personal home, full of ambience and character.

Enjoy a walk in the Bird Sanctuary and spoil yourself in the museum’s cozy cafe named after Karen Blixen’s faithful housekeeper, Madam Carlsen.

Feel free to ask at reception for information on current exhibitions and special offers on admission for guests at Skovshoved Hotel.
